Guardians Earn Win with Late Rally
The Cleveland Guardians did just enough to sneak past the Kansas City Royals, 6-5, at Progressive Field. Cleveland pitcher Mike Lingar, in particular, had a standout performance. Michael King, now 5-8, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The third-place Guardians go to 53-55.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Cleveland right fielder Jeff Pastirik, facing Jamir Leal, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Guardians the 6-5 win.

"Mike was in attack mode the whole game," said Cleveland manager Bob Renner.
