Angels Deal Mariners 6-5 Defeat
|
The Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, at T-Mobile Park. Sam Yelton, who finished 4th in the NL in extra base hits with 77 last year, starred for Los Angeles. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Los Angeles pitcher Chris McConell earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Orion Kerkering suffered the loss. Alan Whiteside, who is tied for 5th in the AL in saves with 26, earned the save for Los Angeles.
Had Yelton not come through in the top of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Yelton hit a 3-run home run. The Angels took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
After the game, Los Angeles manager Kyle Dhanani applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
The Los Angeles win streak is now 3 games.
