Orioles Raise Rally Flag, Beat San Francisco, 3-1
|
The San Francisco Giants could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kai-Wei Teng into a win. Instead, the Baltimore Orioles prevailed, 3-1. Teng threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. Josh Monroe nailed down his 27th save. With the win, Baltimore pushed its record to 56-41.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Erik Thompson? The 26-year old first baseman Thompson stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Baltimore up, 3-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"It never gets old," said Thompson. "Winning, that is."
