Dodgers Beaten By Blue Jays, 7-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays get after it.
Toronto pitcher Juan Figueroa did his part in helping his team beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Figueroa, now 8-7, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.
Lazaro Salinas had a big 2-run home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the second inning. With Toronto leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from Danny Coots, who is tied for 8th in the NL in innings pitched with 125.1, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 4-0.
Salinas told a Toronto Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The Blue Jays, at 47-50, inhabit third place in the American League East Division.
