Twins Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Fans watched the Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers fight to the finish.
The Minnesota Twins earned a close win over the Detroit Tigers, thanks in part to Chris Paddack. The Minnesota right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the AL with a 9.7 K/9 rate, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Shawn Guilliams, who is tied for 8th in the AL in holds with 9, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-4. The losing pitcher was Bailey Ober.
Had it not been for Landon Schaefer, the results might have been different. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Twins were trailing 2-1, Schaefer hit a 2-run single for Minnesota, giving his team the lead.
"We were in it," said Detroit manager Skip Schumaker. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The Twins, at 41-50, sit in 4th place in the American League Central Division.
