The Los Angeles Angels locked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the New York Mets, 5-2. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Jeff Simmons. He played a major role in the triumph. Picking up the save was Alan Whiteside. He's now 22 for 24 in save chances. The Angels go to 37-54 with the win.

Los Angeles used a timely hit from Luis Ayden Almeyda to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Almeyda told a Los Angeles Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
