Miami used a superb performance from starting pitcher Thomas Ireland to down the Washington Nationals, 1-0. With the win, Miami raised its record to 45-39.
Ireland delivered a quality start for Miami. The 6-foot-1 left-hander allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 6 innings of work.
