Royals Squelch Athletics Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Kansas City Royals got a stellar effort from pitcher Austin Charles, helping Kansas City score a win over the visiting Oakland Athletics, 4-0. Charles, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Jamir Leal notched his 21st save in 24 chances.
Bobby Witt Jr., who finished 2nd in the AL in OPS with 1.016 in 2024, chipped in a 2-run home run for Kansas City in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We put together a nice win," Witt Jr. said.
With the win, Kansas City upped its record to 46-38.
