Reds Win, 7-2, at Tampa Bay
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 7-2, the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman Noelvi Marte. On the day, Marte went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Reds. Tucker Davidson got the win, improving to 7-8. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 6. Kyle Wright notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Brady House to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said House. "You've got to get results."
The third-place Reds go to 37-46.
