Ona Slugs Mariners to 7-4 Win
|
Jorge Ona knocked in 3 runs to help Seattle beat Washington, 7-4. The Havana, Cuba native tallied 1 single and 2 home runs. David Davila, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-4. Carlos Vargas got the save, his 19th in 20 chances.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Mariners first baseman Tyler Locklear hit a changeup from Jimmy Lambert for a 2-run single. Just like that, Seattle was up, 4-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Locklear. "And not try to do too much."
Seattle is now 35-45, while Washington is 50-30.
