Royals Win at Home, 6-0
|
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-0, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City pitcher Austin Charles had a standout performance. The winner was Charles. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Omari Jiggetts. The losing streak for Milwaukee has now reached 4 games.
Lev Lonnquist had a big bases-clearing double for the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. With Kansas City leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Omari Jiggetts, who is tied for 9th in the NL in quality starts with 9, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 4-0.
"Austin did a tremendous job," said Kansas City manager Ethan Delaneye.
