Cardinals Bridle White Sox, 4-2
|
The St. Louis Cardinals handed the Chicago White Sox a loss at Busch Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Konnor Griffin was one of the major contributors for St. Louis. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. The winner was Caleb Kilian, who threw 88 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Deifran Yriarte, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
Masyn Winn had a big 2-run home run for the Cardinals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Thomas Ireland and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Cardinals on top, 4-1.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Winn.
The win puts St. Louis at 26-39.
