Reds Collect 8-5 Win Over Mets
|
Cincinnati first baseman Noelvi Marte helped his team beat the New York Mets, 8-5. Marte, who finished 4th in the NL in extra base hits with 83 in 2030, went 1 for 3 for the Reds. Chris White, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Julio Useda nailed down the save.
Dan Reichardt delivered a big hit for Cincinnati. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reds ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"We just can't get over the hump," said losing manager Justin Buzzotta.
This loss makes it 7 in a row for New York.
