Reds Get Past Washington, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Sincere Dinnall into a win. Instead, the Cincinnati Reds prevailed, 4-3. Dinnall threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs. Chris King earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 2-1. Cincinnati, at 30-21, occupies second place in the National League Central Division.
Kyle Tucker, who finished 3rd in the AL in OPS with .917 in 2021, had a direct impact on the outcome. Tucker contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Cincinnati up, 4-3.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Cincinnati manager Ahron Cooney.
