Nationals Earn 7-1 Home Win
|
Washington pitcher Jacob Shafer did his part in helping his team beat the Cincinnati Reds, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Shafer, now 7-3. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Washington has now won 4 straight.
Bryce Blaser, who finished 4th in the NL in on-base percentage with .398 last year, helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk.
"Jacob was dictating to their hitters," said Washington manager Matt Patton.
