Herrera Socks It to Mighty Mussels, Cracks 5 Hits
|
Juan Herrera put on a hitting clinic as the Tampa Tarpons dumped the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, 8-3, at Hammond Stadium.
The Tampa center fielder made Fort Myers defenders earn their pay, lashing Fort Myers pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Herrera said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Juan Herrera hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Herrera is batting .298 with 61 hits, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs, 14 walks, .354 OBP and has scored 30 runs. He has played in 49 games.
