Nationals Deal Yankees 9-3 Defeat
|
No one was more impactful than Juan Soto in the 9-3 Washington win over New York. Soto, who finished 4th in the NL in on-base percentage with .379 in 2026, was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sincere Dinnall, the winner, goes to 5-3. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts over 6 innings. The Nationals, now 25-23, have won 5 in a row.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Derek Curiel to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Nationals the lead, 4-2. For the game, Curiel had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Washington manager Matt Patton.
