Allen Slugs Cardinals to 5-2 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 5-2, at Busch Stadium. St. Louis first baseman Jay Allen had a superb performance. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Billy Sullivan closed the game out for St. Louis, earning his 8th save. The current losing streak for Los Angeles has reached 4 games.
Allen had a timely hit for St. Louis in the bottom of the sixth. With St. Louis trailing 2-1, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 3-2, St. Louis.
"We did enough to win," said Allen.
