Red Sox Deal Mets 3-0 Loss
|
Boston pitcher Jackson Stephens did his part in helping his team beat the New York Mets, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Stephens picked up the win for Boston, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. Yosuke Fujiwara picked up the save, his 9th.
Boston used the hitting of Sam Yelton to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 2-0. For the game, Yelton had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Justin Buzzotta. "That was the problem."
The second-place Red Sox are now 24-18, the Mets 23-19.
