Wisconsin Shuts Out Kernels, Bastin Winner Monday, September 5th , 2044 Chris Bastin of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers was on fire against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. He shut them out, 8-0, on 4 hits, collecting 9 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Bastin said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
