A pitcher being voted the most valuable player in his league is a rare feat, and this year it did indeed happen. The 2045 Midwest League Most Valuable Player Award has gone to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers ace Alex Hayes after a stellar 19-5 season.

In 28 starts he piled up 201.1 innings, 175 strikeouts, 66 walks and a 3.89 ERA. Hayes held opposing hitters to a .286 batting average and compiled a 2.9 WAR along the way.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 16. Pat Patton of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Danny Langen of the Beloit Snappers finished third with 4 first place votes.
