5-Hit Blitz by Boston (DSL)'s Chapa
|
Boston (DSL) shortstop Emanuele Chapa had a fantastic day at the plate at El Toro Complex, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 9-8.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Chapa said after his 5-for-7 performance against the Twins. "No offense meant to Minnesota (DSL), but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was El Toro Complex."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the shortstop's improvements, saying Chapa spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Chapa said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Emanuele Chapa singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Wilson Montalvo in the 5th, walked in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th, walked in the 12th, walked in the 15th and hit a solo-shot off Jorge Rosas in the 17th.
On the year, Chapa is hitting .348 with 40 hits, 16 home runs, 42 RBIs, .490 OBP and has scored 25 runs.
