Rios Socks It to Gangsters, Cracks 5 Hits
Thursday, June 6th , 2019
St. Petersburg third baseman Edwin Rios had a big day at Gangsters Ballpark against the Austin Gangsters. The 25-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 12-4 Oaks triumph over Austin.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Rios said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Edwin Rios singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Rios is currently hitting at a .410 pace with 12 home runs and 61 RBIs.
