Amarillo Sweeps Highland Park Friday, October 5th , 2018 With a 12-2 win over the Highland Park Argonauts tonight at Ballpark of Highland Park, the Amarillo Blackbirds wrapped up their 3rd title in team history. Amarillo left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Blackbirds celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Amarillo manager . "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Amarillo celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works. "We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Amarillo Blackbirds," the mayor said. The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the Sub League 1 West Division and a 125-15 record. |
