How Sweep it Is! Whitby Wins Round 3 Saturday, October 8th , 2016 It's party time in Whitby. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling. The Whitby Panthers have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 2016 Round 3 today. They defeated the Jackson Moose 21-7 at Panthers Ballpark to officially wrap up the series 4-0. Asked how it feels to be a champion, shortstop Niko Goodrum was to the point. "It feels great, like a million bucks. I'm so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys," he said. "We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions." The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week. Whitby finished the regular season 85-55 and claimed first place in the Sub League 1 East Division. |
