Goodrum Strokes 5 Hits Wednesday, October 5th , 2016 A jubilant Niko Goodrum joined the postgame press conference at Moose Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Jackson Moose pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Whitby Panthers shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 9-4 Panthers win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Moose. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Niko Goodrum doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and doubled in the 9th. In 78 games this season, Goodrum has compiled a .503 batting average with 159 hits and 12 home runs. He has also scored 135 times and knocked in 70 runs. |
