With speculation about his retirement gaining steam last offseason, Zips ace Brandon Claussen had something to prove. He proved it in award-winning style as he accepted the Sub League 2 Pitcher of the Year Award today.
The veteran Rochester hurler posted a record of 16 wins and 6 losses this year with a 3.33 ERA. In 25 starts he struck out 189 and walked 37 in 189.1 innings.
He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 26. Jair Jurrjens of the Tulsa Eclipse finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Dan Straily of the Tulsa Eclipse finished third with 1 first place vote.
