Buchanan Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 20
Sunday, August 7th , 2061
Late in the game, all eyes in FirstEnergy Stadium were on Chris Buchanan as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Buchanan, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Buchanan, it was that his Reading Fightin Phils won the game anyway, stopping the Richmond Flying Squirrels by the score of 2-0.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Buchanan told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
This season, Buchanan is batting at a .357 clip with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs.
