Red-Hot Bat: Copas Collects Cycle
Sunday, August 22nd , 2060
Requiring speed, power, and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Jarod Copas, consider that test passed.
The 24-year-old catcher hit for the cycle at Southwest University park, to help the El Paso Chihuahuas triumph, 8-4, over the Nashville Sounds. All told, Copas delivered 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Jarod Copas hit a solo-shot off Chris Case in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
So far this year, Copas has 6 home runs and a .347 batting average.
