Giants Advance to Division Series
Sunday, October 10th , 2055
Jesus Tamayo said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Wild Card Series until he was shown his own statistics.
The San Francisco Giants first baseman put up a .462 average with 0 home runs, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Giants advancing to the Division Series, with a 3-1 series win over the Colorado Rockies.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."
The series victory had become official with a 8-3 triumph at Oracle Park. Even if Tamayo is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.
"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.
The San Francisco Giants will play against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the next round. Arizona had a bye in the Wild Card Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
