Schaumburg Blanks Sussex County Behind Espinoza Thursday, August 19th , 2060 It wasn't easy but the Schaumburg Boomers made it look that way. Starter Oscar Espinoza shut out the Sussex County Miners despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Schaumburg Boomers cruised to victory, 4-0. Espinoza allowed only 5 hits and rang up 8 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." For this year, Espinoza has chalked up 3 wins and 8 losses in 16 starts with 83 strikeouts in 98.1 innings and a 2.56 ERA. View Boxscore |
