Late Rally Earns Arkansas 4-2 Win
|
Arkansas starter Charlie Ayala pitched well against the Birmingham Barons at Regions Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-2, in 11 innings. Steve Tennessen, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. With the win, Arkansas has a record of 45-31. Birmingham falls to 53-23.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With one out, Ramon Jimenez hit a 1-1 fastball from Chad Kowitz for a 2-run single. It put Arkansas in front, 4-2.
"We'll pocket this win," said Ayala, "and then go after another."
