Late Rally by Cardinals Secures 5-2 Win
|
Springfield and Montgomery duked it out and the Cardinals came out victorious.
The Cardinals grabbed a win, 5-2, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Montgomery pitcher Josh Yehle. Yehle went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Springfield reliever Jaime Steves picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Andy Martelle absorbed the loss.
Springfield used a timely hit from Steve Hylinski to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I loved our energy," said Springfield manager . "I loved the way we played."
After today's action, Springfield sits at 34-43, while Montgomery falls to 39-38.
