Birmingham Claims 5-2 Victory
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Birmingham Barons and Mississippi Braves.
The Birmingham Barons stymied the Mississippi Braves, 5-2, at Regions Field. Alfredo Cintron had a good day at the plate. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Birmingham. Andy Long picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 10-1. Tony del Bosque closed the door for Birmingham, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the fifth, Cintron had a key at-bat for Birmingham. With the bases loaded, Cintron hit a 2-run single off Erick Payne, making the score 4-2, Barons.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Cintron.
The defeat makes Mississippi 42-26.
