Cardinals Upend Generals, 7-4
|
The Springfield Cardinals defeated the Jackson Generals, 7-4, at The Ballpark at Jackson. Springfield was led by 25-year old left fielder Steve Murray, who went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Jerry Gonzales closed it out for his 13th save. At 29-33, the Cardinals are currently 4th in the TX/SL Texas League.
In the top of the first, Eric McKinnon ambushed a first pitch fastball from Kawika Warrah and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Springfield a quick 2-0 lead.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," McKinnon told the Springfield Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
