The Frisco RoughRiders took on the Corpus Christi Hooks at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

The Frisco RoughRiders downed the Corpus Christi Hooks, 5-1, at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Jerry Gonzalez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the TXSL in innings pitched with 71.0, handcuffed his opponent all game. Gonzalez got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 1st save was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Jayden Stancil.

Jeff Goodman cracked a home run off Bobby Kulig in the bottom of the first. His 3-run blast put the RoughRiders on top, 3-0. In all, Goodman had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Gonzalez.

The RoughRiders improved their record to 35-26 by beating Corpus Christi.
