|
The Birmingham Barons beat the Springfield Cardinals, 8-2, at Hammons Field. Jake Flowers, in particular, was impressive. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Savage. He tossed 89 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The Barons are now 39-20, while the Cardinals fall to 25-34.
Birmingham center fielder Josh Butina helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Springfield manager .
