Pensacola catcher Johnny Hurst made his presence felt in the 13-2 Blue Wahoos triumph over the Jackson Generals. Hurst went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Juan Mercalo, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0.

Pensacola used a clutch at-bat from Milt Driver to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Wahoos ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
