Hooks Sneak Past Naturals, 4-3

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals got a sterling performance from pitcher Eric King, but the Corpus Christi Hooks still prevailed, 4-3. King threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Pat Clark snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-2 on the season. Jonathan Mendez suffered the loss. Mike Fleming got the save, the 14th for him this season.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Hooks designated hitter Joe Parker hit a fastball from Jonathan Mendez for a 2-run single. Just like that, Corpus Christi was up, 4-3.
"We found a way to get it done," Parker said.
The first-place Hooks have won 6 straight games.
