Generals Rebuff Sod Poodles, 3-1
|
The Jackson Generals and Amarillo Sod Poodles played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Amarillo Sod Poodles got a sterling performance from pitcher Danny Estrello, but the Jackson Generals still prevailed, 3-1. Estrello threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner in relief was Josh Schwartz. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3.
Shortstop Leonardo Ruiz made an impact for Jackson, when he swatted a solo home run off Danny Estrello in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Ruiz went 1 for 4 with a home run.
In postgame remarks, Ruiz hailed his team's "grit."
The Generals, with only their 7th win in 28 games, have not had much to write home about in 2059.
