Curve Win in Extras, 5-4
|
The Altoona Curve defeated the Harrisburg Senators, 5-4, in 10 innings. Ian Toombs, who is tied for 2nd in the EL in bases on balls with 25, played a big role. Toombs went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks for the Curve in the win. Robbie Carey, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The loss has the Senators at 8-12.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Altoona trailing 4-3, Adan Varela hit a fastball from Erik Posey to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Curve had a walk-off win.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Toombs.
