8-0 Loss to Braves Extends Amarillo Losing Streak
Mississippi Braves starter Jon Williford had all his pitches working at Hodgetown. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-0 Mississippi win over the Amarillo Sod Poodles. Williford, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 1 walk. Now 2-14, the 2059 Sod Poodles have played a subpar brand of baseball so far.

Sean Rothman had a big 2-run home run for the Braves in the top of the second inning. With Mississippi leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Felix Palma and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 4-0.
