Amarillo Absorbs 3-0 Loss to Arkansas
|
The Arkansas Travelers took Amarillo pitcher Gabe Yates's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Dickey-Stephens Park. The final score had Arkansas getting past the Sod Poodles, 3-0. Yates went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 3. Jared Simmons closed the door for Arkansas, picking up his 2nd save of the year. Arkansas goes to 3-0.
Ian Zufelt had a big run-scoring double for the Travelers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Arkansas leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gabe Yates and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Travelers ahead, 2-0.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Zufelt.
