Blue Jays Top Nationals, 2-0, Behind Burrows
|
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a win at Rogers Centre, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 2-0. On the bump for Toronto was left-hander Steve Burrows. He had a starring role in the triumph. Chris Peacock picked up the save for Toronto, his 4th of the year. The Nationals fall to 8-15 and continue their sputtering start to the 2059 season.
Burrows was in the zone, shutting down Washington hitters over 8 innings. Burrows, who threw 90 pitches, allowed no runs on 1 hit. He also tallied 4 punchouts.
"Steve pitched like a champ," said Toronto manager Ben Smith.
