Big Day at the Plate for Alba Not Enough for Red Sox
|
The Texas Rangers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Boston catcher Frank Alba by beating the Red Sox, 7-6, at Fenway Park. Alba went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Josh Jackman closed the door for Texas, picking up his 5th save of the year. The Red Sox fall to 8-14 and continue their sputtering start to the 2059 season.
Texas used a timely hit from Bob Scruggs to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said Boston manager Mark Schutt.
