Cincinnati 5-4 Victors at Caterpillar Field
|
Cincinnati beat Chicago at Caterpillar Field, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Sean Ries. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Ries yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-1. The Cubs drop to 9-9 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2059 season.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Andy Wheat to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"No time for posing," said Wheat. "The next game will be here before you know it."
