Cardinals Handled by Philadelphia, 7-3
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Philadelphia fans at Citzen Bank Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a win at Citzen Bank Field, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-3. Starting pitcher Jerry Young played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Young, now 2-0. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5.
The Phillies got a big at-bat from right fielder Danny Arlington. For the game, Arlington was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-0 lead.
"Solid performance from our side," said Phillies manager Chris Berry.
The win lifts Philadelphia to a record of 8-6.
