Big Game from Delgadillo Not Enough, Yankees Lose
|
Despite a great performance by New York second baseman Nestor Delgadillo, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Yankees by the score of 10-8 at Yankee Stadium. Delgadillo was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Jim Miklos earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Picking up his 3rd save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Bowers.
In the top of the sixth, Danny O'Brien delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Chicago first baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the White Sox in front, 10-8.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said O'Brien.
With the win, Chicago lifts its record to 9-6.
