Lambert Powers Padres to 7-2 Win
|
Soggy conditions did not keep San Diego and Cincinnati from playing their scheduled game.
In the 7-2 San Diego win over Cincinnati, the impact of Brad Lambert was substantial. Lambert, who finished 2nd in the NL in hits with 177 in 2057, went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Josh Minney was the winner. Over 8 innings, he yielded 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
Lambert contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for San Diego in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Lambert took a slider from Sean Ries and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Padres to leap in front, 4-1.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Lambert. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
San Diego sits at 7-5 in the early going.
