Extra-Inning Win by Astros Over Tigers
The Houston Astros picked up a win at Comerica Park, knocking off the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Walt Walkama played a key role in the triumph. The win went to Jon Rodriguez in relief, making him now 1-0. Josh Gonzalez took the loss for Detroit. Rich Ortega picked up the save for Houston, his 1st of the year.

Houston used a timely hit from Pete Wilson to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Astros ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Detroit skipper Fraser Stewart.

The win puts Houston at 5-3.
